What’s it about

Thirteen people, most of them farmers, were killed when soldiers and police shot protesters on the Mendiola bridge outside the presidential palace in Manila on January 22, 1987. A year later, this photo was a finalist in the Catholic Mass Media Awards for Photojournalism and topped the Confederation of Asean Photojournalism Awards.
